I Recently spoke with Jeremy at Neebo Bookstore and I told him I lost my receipt and need help about returning my book. He looked up my information and told me the only amount that will come out of my account is the 42. And some change and no other fees will be charged and it will be taken out on Wednesday. So I go look at my account and there is a total 113.65 cominf out of my account and I called him on today 05/11/2016 and I was so upset because I have other bills coming through account. And I can't afford to spend 113 on a book plus the fee of the rental! He said the amount was final and that's what I had to pay and then said he was not sure of saying that amount he told me was right. I am so upset.

DO NOT BE BULLIED BY NEEBO

They had sent me two letters recently that i never returned my books. I absolutely did. So I spent an hour filing complaints online with CFPB, BBB, Atty General, and Federal Trade Commission. Sure enough the law office sending me the demands letter responded and said they would remove. Do not be bullied by Neebo. This was my complaint "I had rented two books from Nebraska Book Company DBA Neebo in the Spring semester of 2015. I returned BOTH book rentals as I do every time I've rented books through my undergrad. On December 3rd I received two letters from a law office in Florida saying this was an attempt to collect both debts. CLAIM NUMBERS NE-829****-NEBN and NE-829****-NEBN. I have now filed a complaint and debt validation request with them and the BBB. I will also be filing a complaint with the Attorney General. This is illegal. There are more than 100 complaints of this where they say they've never received the return books. They are praying on college students. I want both books removed from my account and the debt to be removed. The order number was 634083. I have tried to settle this with the company explaining that I have mailed them back and customer service was not helpful. This company has a history of saying they have no received the rentals and sending directly to collections. I have perfect credit and have never had a bill outstanding" The law office responded thru my Consumer Financial Protection Bureau "Closed pending client researching whether the books were in fact returned. Response We have noted both files that the complainant disputes the amounts claimed owed and notified our client of same. Should our client notify us the books in question were not returned and provides us with validation material, we will provide such validation material to complainant. Otherwise, complainant will receive no further communication from us. Further, please note that we do not report to any credit reporting agency.

Neebo Textbook Rental Review

I have never even heard of neebo until today when i got an email saying i never returned a book and it has been sent to collections for a total of $123.70 and it doesnt give the name of the book.. Ive never once rented a book online as i always buy them since it's cheaper in the long one Does anyone know how to fight this?

Rent or Buy from reputable companies

Whether you have your receipt or not, they will ignore it and send you a collection notice. So be prepared. They will try hard to collect. Their partner in crime is a shady law office in Orlando, FL: Palmer, Reifler & Assoc. Happens that I returned the book a month before its due date. I called Neebo a week later and with the tracking number they verified they received the rented book. Still 5 months later, received a collection letter from its law office with a typical collection verbiage. I called and sent them proof of delivery, asked to contact me back with their findings, they never did. I reported it to the BBB, that was very effective, I received verification from Neebo.

Wow, I had this same exact situation happen to me! I sent my neebo book back early, because I dropped the class early in the semester and thought I would get it out of the way. I thought everything was fine until 7 months later when I am contacted via email by a debt collector. When I called neebo confused, they told me that the only way I can avoid the $130 fee is if I give them the tracking information. I printed the tracking slip so long ago that obviously I do not have it (and neither do they). They told me to contact usps but that is usually no help either. Did you ever find out what to do about this?

Sent to collections without warning.

Neebo sent me to a debt collector without prior warning due to a textbook return they had not received. I returned the textbook a couple of weeks early prior to the return deadline and did not hear from them so I assumed everything was taken care of. This was over 6 months ago. A couple weeks ago I receive an email from a debt collector stating that I owed $150 in replacements fees because they had never received the book. I had no tracking number since I don't keep tracking numbers for over half a year. Had Neebo contacted me in an appropriate time frame, I would have gladly sent over the tracking number. Instead, they waited 6 months and sent a debt collector after me, a broke college student. A quick google search will show that this has happened to many other people as well. This is a scummy company that targets a demographic with the least amount of financial stability. STAY AWAY.

Absolutely terrible. On the phone for more than 30 minutes, three different times, and did not talk to anyone. Apparently, your customers time is not very valuable. Received a notice in the mail about an overdue textbook. Tried to contact neebo about this issue. Called three separate times, was placed on hold. Stayed there for over thirty minutes. Not the kind of treatment we expect from a company that deals with students and families on a constant basis. I would suggest that in the future you place more staff on the phones, so that your customers can get the service that they are entitled to.

Where is The Better Business Bureau?

NEVER NEVER NEVER buy or rent a book from Neebo! I rented a book in Dec. 2014, returned it the next week (before the spring semester started) because I got a cheaper copy. Not only did I not receive a refund, I am being threatened with collections because they said I never returned the book, even though I kept the tracking paperwork. They finally acknowledged that they have the book, but they say too much time has passed & they won't be issuing a refund! So, they have the book, my money & are threatening me with collections still! Has anyone contacted The Better Business Bureau?????

THIS SAME THING JUST HAPPENED TO ME. Seriously, it's unreal.

I am a younger female college student, so naturally I turned to my mom for some advice/help. We sat down and called the 1800 number. It's funny because on the automated menu, pressing 4 supposedly takes you to a rep to speak about account issues. When I pressed 4 I had to wait at least five minutes until then being told again that all their reps were busy at the moment.

I was beyond fed up at this point, so I hung up and called again. I pressed 1 this time, the option to speak to a rep for "assistance with a purchase". This time I was connected almost instantly, and this just added fuel to my fire. I was beyond words, so I handed the phone to my mother who calmly explained to the rep.

The rep tried to play ***, acting like she couldn't find it because I did not know the exact date I turned the book in. (NOTE: I have to say the fact that they think we are so *** as to think that you can not just type in our *** credit card number and name and find ALL Neebo purchases is *** ridiculous. This is the 21st century and everything is on a computer. Honestly, they are insulting our intelligence and committing fraud.) So anyway, the rep told my mother to "call back tomorrow" and they would have more info.

The next day my mother calls and apparently they "found the book" or proof of the return, whatever the *** proof they need. The rep told my mom that we would be reimbursed the amount charged and apologized. I'm not sure when this is supposed to happen but I'll let you know if it does. Also the bigger fact in all of this is that they are turning people, including myself over to a collection agency?

AFTER THE FACT that they claimed to have already charged my credit card for the amount of the book. Thats *** ridiculous and beyond annoying. As if college isn't hard and expensive enough, this book store is trying to steal from HONEST, RULE ABIDING students.

It's *** sickening. Sorry for the rant lol.

Neebo claims they never received my textbooks, when in fact, I did return them. Now they are threatening to send my debt to collections if I do not pay for them to replace the books. First off, the books were extremely run down and old, and I would not pay full price to replace them even if I had "lost" them as they are accusing me of doing. I'm entirely sure the whole company is a scam that is just trying to make money. All the reviews online are horrible. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away from neebo. I Definitely have learned my lesson and I plan on documenting all future transactions with ANY company.

Neebo Return Policy Review

Sold back 6 books. Was supposed to get $350 back. Only got $56!! They said they did not receive the other books even though they were in the same *** box. Really!?!?! Every time I called it was a different story. This went on for 5 months.... Neebo is a load of *** and screwed me out of my return! DO NOT USE NEEBO! !!!

Ordered a book rental through Neebo. Was charged 4 months after I returned the book. Never received a noticed via e-mail. Now they say they don't keep track of the shipping labels they issue. This was so long ago, I got rid of my receipts. From viewing other complaints, mine sounds similar. Beware if you rent from them. You have to constantly call to make sure they got your book returned or else they will charge you full price. The poorly designed web site does not show if the books were received so you have to call them. This company has taken too much of my time and money. Will not rent from them again.

Returned book in March being charged in May

I returned a book in March back to Neebo and thought all was okay until I started getting emails from them in May saying my book has not been returned. I have asked them to look it up and they will not. I have asked them to put a hold on charging my account until I can contact USPS and they will not. They wont work with me at all! They are charging me for a book that I returned extremely early and that I do not have. I have heard of this company being a scam and that they would charge you for a book that you have returned and it would be sitting on the shelf at one of the stores. I am beyond furious right now! I will NEVER do business with them again! I would warn you to never use this company as well.

I had the same exact issues ... and I returned my three books in March as well.

(All three were somehow lost).

I left a message on their Facebook page and they resolved it within 10 minutes. Good luck!

Charged for Returned Book

NEVER EVER RENT A BOOK FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! A YEAR ago I rented a book from them. In December of 2014 I returned the book in THEIR hand dandy reusable green envelope. Never heard from them again again until I got a collection notice in my email in August of 2015!! I called explained that I returned the book, Well apparently this is my fault because I didn't keep the tracking notice and ensure the book was returned,,,, So I explained book wasn't like new when rented, heavily marked through and in general poor condition could I possibly pay a used rate in an attempt to settle. NOPE. Never rent from them. I should have never strayed from my go to company, Chegg.

I agree - NEVER NEVER rent from Neebo! I bought a book, returned it the next week because I got the same book somewhere else (before the semester even started), and not only did they not refund me, but I got threats of being sent to collections!

I kept the tracking number,etc, but now they say I waited too long & won't receive a refund! So, they have the book, my money & they are threatening me with collection!

Never again! I wish I had read the reviews beforehand.

CHARGED FOR RETURNED BOOK!

I returned a rented textbook which they sent me in horrible condition. They charged me for the full price of the book, and they claim I should have kept the tracking number which they should have on record but they do not. They are scammers. Neebo is a scam, no one should ever order any books from them. I am still working on getting a refund, but I am not sure how. Im hoping my credit card company (DISCOVER) will kick their *** for me. Maybe they should start holding tracking numbers they are sending out to people instead of constantly changing them.
